In Chinese art, there was a high degree of continuity in the range of decorative elements used in the creation of art through successive dynasties.  A wide range of motifs and decorative compositions in use have been passed down through the centuries.

This exhibition of the finest Chinese art in the AGGV collection will feature paintings, ceramics, bronzes, jades, various other decorative arts, etc.  The focus will be on the continuing traditions in Chinese art from ancient times to 1900.  The AGGV has one of the finest and most diversified collections of Chinese art in Canada.  This exhibition will exhibit stunning treasures in the Gallery’s collection from past donors as well as exhibit for the first time some recent donations from the Murray and Ann Bell Asian Collection from Toronto, items from the Elizabeth Stewart Estate and recent important acquisitions from the Menzies family from Toronto.
